HAPPENING AT FAITH and AROUND TOWN

LHM THE LUTHERAN HOUR

February 19: "Repent" Speaker Emeritus of The Lutheran Hour: Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus. Is repentance important? Is repentance necessary? The answer is an unqualified "yes." True, Jesus loves us as we are-but He never leaves us as we were. (Mark 1:14-15) NEXT SUNDAY, March 4 "Faith Sees Through Suffering" Lutheran Hour Speaker: Rev. Gregory Seltz. Jesus suffered on the cross for us. In His strength, we are willing to suffer and bear the cross for others. SUNDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY FOR ADULTS

Martin Luther gave practical instructions for living the Christian life through Table Talks. You have the same opportunity, each Sunday, 10:10 am - 10:50 in the Fellowship Hall. The Bible readings for the following Sunday are discussed, with practical application to life. Why not stop in one Sunday? Each Sunday is a study unto itself - so you do not need to be at every Table Talk to know what is going on. Plus, this gets us ready to hear God’s Word the following Sunday. Come join us!

See you Sunday at 10:10 in the Preschool classroom near the Fellowship Hall for snacks and singing.

FEBRUARY MISSION OF THE MONTH: SISTERS OF FAITH (SOF)

The Sisters of Faith is an outreach mission to Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and un-churched women here in southwest Florida. Don’t forget to check out our display in the Narthex. At this time we are in need of gently used and operational sewing machines, computers and printers, and a gently used but reliable motor vehicle. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HOST SUNDAY MORNING FELLOWSHIP

Willing volunteers are needed to prepare Sunday Morning Fellowship during 2012. There is a sign-up sheet on the side of the refrigerator in the kitchen if you would like to serve in this capacity. It involves making coffee, providing juice, and occasionally bringing extra treats.

WANTED:

One or two people interested in learning the audio/visual system at Faith Lutheran Church; to be trained by Jeremy Robertson (audio) and Claudia Tracy (visual) to assist with their duties or substitute should one of them not be available to assist with a service.  Please contact Michael Schmidt at 239-216-1866.

LWML MITES

Thank you for your generous Mite Box donations for the month of February. We collected $327.40. There was a tremendous response (36) to the challenge to donate five dollar bills with purple fives on them. Would that there be that many every month to help the LWML meet their mission grant goal of reaching out to help others.

NEW SHARE YOUR FAITH CLASS

A new “Share Your Faith without Fear” class begins on Tuesday, March 6. This 5-week class helps you to learn how to share your faith without the fear that many of us have. Call the Church Office, 434-5811, if you would like to be included in the class. Pastor Scudieri leads the class.

THE WOF SPRING TEA HAS BEEN "RESURRECTED"! 

 The Spring Tea will be held on the original scheduled date of March 24, 2012.  More details will be forthcoming in the next week, and sign up will begin the weekend of March 3/4.  If you are interested in working on the planning committee, please contact Jan Nurenberg at 566-3928.

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP

A Christian Grief Group for those whose loved ones have gone to their eternal home meets at Faith. The next meeting will be March 5, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to NoonFor more information call 239-434-5811 and ask for Dr. Bob Scudieri, Assistant Pastor. 

SPRING BLOOD DRIVE

The Community Blood Center van will be accepting blood donations at Faith on March 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All blood collected in Collier County stays in Collier County. You never know when you might need some blood. Let’s do our part in keeping the shelves supplied. Each unit collected can save up to 3 lives. Sign-up sheets are in the Narthex. Just put your name next to the time you are available to donate. For questions call Marion at 643-5360 or email at elmmar@embarqmail.com

CHURCH DOCUMENTS

Are you in possession of documents that might belong to Faith Lutheran, or that might be of interest to the historians of this church? If so, please bring them to the Church Office so they can be included in our archives.

CHURCH SECURITY SYSTEM

The Church requires that you have a security code to enter the building and to leave it secure when you depart. Each time the alarm is activated, it requires a trip for Kurt Johnson, our Sexton, to check the cause of the alarm. If you are in need of calling him, you need to call him on his cell phone, 612-743-6849. You can do this from a Church phone.

LAMBS OF FAITH RUMMAGE SALE

Lambs of Faith requests your donations for their rummage sale that will be held on March 10, in the Fellowship Hall. You may bring your “treasures” beginning March 5. Then come back on the 10th to support the Preschool by buying a new “treasure.”

FAITH BUSINESS DIRECTORY

Do you have a business? Do you have a marketable skill? Perhaps you would like to share that with our Congregation in a Faith Business Directory. Members supporting members is what it is all about, so if you have something you would like to share with others (at a fair price), please send your information to Kurt Johnson at sexton@flc-naples.org. If you need repairs, or some other type of service that another member might be able to provide (at a fair price), call Kurt at 272-1735 or 612-743-6849.
