Faith Ministries

If you know of someone who is sick or has been sick or has suffered a loss, and would appreciate receiving a shawl, contact Sue Parker, 348-8068. The shawls have been knitted or crocheted as prayers have been said for the recipients. Marion Schrader is overseeing this part of the project. Contact her at 643-5360, if you would like to participate in this ministry.

If you have an item you no longer need and would like to bless someone with it, list the item on the I Want to Bless list. Print your name and the phone number where you can be reached.

If you are in need of something, place your need on the I Need to be Blessed list.

All items given must be in a useable and clean condition.

Should you read an item listed that you can use/provide, simply call the person who listed the item.

This is a ministry of giving and receiving. NO money is exchanged.

The person receiving the blessing is responsible to cross the item off the appropriate sheet.

Items that have received no action within 30 days of posting will be removed from the sheet.

The sheets are posted on the bulletin board by the elevator.

Help in Crisis

Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another.  Through one-to-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them. Faith Lutheran Church is blessed to have five individuals, trained to offer confidential Christian caring to those in need.  If, you, or someone you know, would like a caring person to talk to, please contact   Doris West (239-290-1600),  or Pastor Treglown (239-272-1702). Stephen Ministry, a long established, interdenominational ministry, trains individuals within congregations to "walk with" people who are experiencing difficulties.  It trains volunteers as confidential listeners and helpers, and makes these volunteers available to members and friends of the congregation.

Human Care

The mission of the Human Care Board is based on John 15:12: “Love one another as I have loved you.”

The Human Care Committee genuinely thanks all who donated to help fellow members through the Love Offering collection taken in February—your generosity is truly a blessing! As we are all painfully aware, the current economic conditions are taking a toll on family and acquaintances. If you are moved to help further, donations of money or food can be made any time throughout the year. Donations for the food pantry (see the next paragraph) can be left by the Giving Tree in the Narthex. Monetary donations can be made by marking checks or envelopes with ‘Human Care‘.

Great News! Faith is now stocking a food pantry to supplement the needs of our struggling members. The Human Care Committee is responsible for the inventory, communication and financial records relating to this ministry. We are collecting nonperishable boxed or canned goods.  Suggested items are canned fruits or vegetables, pastas, and foods high in protein (peanut butter, canned meats and tuna, etc.). If you are in need of assistance in this area, please contact the Church Office to discuss your need with Pastor Treglown.

Human Care also provides the ministry of meal preparation for the short-term homebound recovering from illness or surgery. We are always in need of willing volunteers to assist with preparation and delivery of a meal or two during these times. If you have the gift of hospitality and would like to assist in this area please contact Sue Parker at 348-8068.

God bless you! The Human Care Board
